Software bug with my Garmin 680

Anyone else having this problem.

When my Garmin 680 is navigating to a location, I can touch the "Turn In" icon in the lower right and I get a new display that shows information about the next turn. That works correctly except when the MSN Direct shows a Weather alert icon on the map display. The weather icon is the square with three lighting bolts that's displayed below the "+" sign. If I touch the "Turn In" icon I get the Weather alert display information. I can't call up information about the next turn as along as the weather alert icon is displayed. I have latest software version installed.

Hi, this has been covered

Hi, this has been covered rather extensively in other nodes. I, too, have the 680 and now have had three of them, all with the same problem with the weather alert icon just below the + sign. I have spoken with Garmin support in the last week and even talked to engineering about this issue....threatening to return all three to Costco. She assure me that they were still working on this issue...time will tell. She tells me..and I have tried it and it works....that if when you have the alert displayed (cloud with bolts), that if you press in the extreme lower right corner, it will bring up the next turns...I have tried this and it works. In the mean time, I returned two of them to Costco because I had paid $479.05, plus shipping, on line and now they are available in the Costco stores for $399-, a saving of $80.00 (each) plus shipping that I save. So for..no weather icon problem with the new ones I bought at the Costco store. They have a completely new SKU, so I couldn't do a swap....The sales person said that even though it was the same model, it must have been an upgraded or newer version for it to have a different SKU that the previous 680 models. I'm hopeful that this may be true and that I have new ones that may have firmware upgrades that were not on the 'older' models. Time will tell.

No joy with lower right corner

Thanks for response. I tried many times pressing the extreme lower right corner, and everywhere around it, and it won't call up the next turn page. I'll just live it with and hope it's fixed in the next software update along with MSN V2 capability for the 680.

Don't hold your breath CBRDan, from what Garmin Tech support tells me the MSN 2 update will not be made available for the 600 series, but it is or will be available for the 700 series... Also I've been told once again that the lighting bolt problem is being worked on. You would think 4 to 6 months would be enough time to correct the problem...

You can walk a horse to water, but a pencil has to be led.

I too have seen this problem...

On my nuvi 650 using the GTM20 antenna. If I press the "Turn In" icon, it only refreshes the map display, no "Next Turn Page" :+(
