Speed alerts? (speed alert 2mph)

While traveling i get "speed alert 2mph" what does this mean? A speed trap? Known areas where speed traps are set up? I get one just at the entrance to my gated area in florida and i never see any police activity in the area? Anyone have an explanation

Have you loaded POI's

You don't say whether you've loaded any POI's, but if so, you should be able to find the line in the original file. Does the file name have a "2" in it?

Delete and reload the poi file

I have seen this and other messages when loading poi's from an SD card, or when a direct poi load has issues. This occurs on my nuvi660 more frequently than on my other units.

As a practice, I delete the old poi file from the unit/SD card, and build a fresh one when I prepare an update. If the problem persists, then I scan the newly added/changed files for issues.

Well . . .

Well, if the alert is not picking up the 2 MPH speed from a "2" in the filename, it would have to come from either a manual setting during use of POI Loader or a line in a GPX file if I understand correctly.

Where did you get the POI files you loaded? Awfully coincidental that the location is right at your gate -- could somebody be funnin' with you?

speed alert

I loaded all my poi's from this site. I did not use the manual mode. No one here knows of me or my gps, I'm a snow bird. Thanks anyway for your help, I'd rather not bother anyone further with this question.

We all relish the activity and chance to figure out what is bothering you and your GPSr.

On your POIs, open them and see if there is there a 2 at the end of the one that gives you an alert?
