New version of POIConverter script

Morning all,

Just wanted to announce a new version of POIConverter.
http://dr5274.googlepages.com/poiconverter

I've added support for CSV to KML or GPX, as well as KML or GPX to CSV. It also supports multiline names and descriptions in the CSV files.

I created this script because I like to create my map files visually, and Google Maps and Google Earth let me do that with ease and accuracy. Taking the output from these and getting it into my Nuvi was the problem I solved with this script. I can simply convert Google's KML file to CSV, and it's ready for download.

I also found that I might need to go back the other way, so the script will also convert a CSV file to either a KML or GPX file, based on user input. KML will allow you to go back to Google Maps/Google Earth and make refinements, and GPX will allow you to use MapSource, if desired.

I have NOT experimented will all variations of these formats, so there will no doubt still be issues with conversions. ALWAYS back up your data before converting.

Keep the feedback coming, and I'll continue to make this converter as flexible as possible smile

Thanks!
David

You can use the GPX to load

You can use the GPX to load in google earth. As long as you have a csv to gpx you are fine.

I like to do most of my

I like to do most of my updating in Google Maps, which imports KML. That's why I support that conversion, too. But I try to accomodate as many possibilities as I can smile
