Is there a firmware/architectural diff between tts and non-tts nuvi's

Hi - in light of another discussion about which nuvi has best bang for the buck, and my playing around to free up some space, I noted that on my n370 there is a non-tts voice accompanying the tts voices. Which made me curious if one could take a non-tts nuvi and simply copy onto it a tts voice, or whether there is some difference in firmware or otherwise that would keep this from working. Having only one Nuvi, I am not trying to cheat, but am just trying to figure out if there is really only one nuvi platform with various different tweaks.
TIA
Neal
I don't know
I don't know for sure, but I think that they probly have some way keeping you from getting a free upgrade.

non tts nuvis
On some older non-tts units, there was a workaround. On the newer ones that possibility was terminated. So, essentially No, you cannot use TTS voices on a non TTS voice unit.
MP3 player needed?
Doesn't the Nuvi have to be a model with a mp3 player in order for TTS to work?

Sorry - of course

Nope, the Nuvi 260.. only one in the 2xx series that has TTS doesn't have a MP3 player.

You need mp3 for POI voice alerts, not for TTS.

That is what I was dimly remembering. Thanks for the clarification.
