Computer doesn't show Garmin as a drive

I purchased a new Garmin StreetPilot 7200 a few short months ago and after loading the drivers and conecting it to my computer via USB it and the SD card were both recognized.

However after receiving an identical unit because of a malfunction with the 1st, the 2nd unit and SD card is not being recognized, that is they don't show up in MY COMPUTER as drives. Is there something that I can do to add the garmin and SD card as drives? question

USBDeview

Disconnect your Garmin. Then open USBDeview to remove your Device from windows list; both garmin and usb mass storage created by garmin.

Then, connect your Garmin.
Now, windows should detect and recognize your new Garmin.

I followed your advice and although the Garmin shows up in USBDeview the SD card does not.

Also the Garmin and the SD card still do not show up in my computer as drives.

USBDeview

PineRidge,

Try this one more time.
- disconnect garmin
- open usbdeview and delete everything about your device (check both column device name, and description)
- reboot your PC
- after reboot connect garmin

let me know whether your PC detect your device or not. those are the step I usually do when I have problem with detecting usb device on my PC.

one more point to check is
- going to star menu/ right click at my computer
- choose manage
- go to disk management
- check whether it found your sd card drive or garmin device drive or not

this point could help for further analysis
