Deleting files...

I am in the process of deleting languages in the Help, Text and Voice folders. All i want to leave is American English and Spanish. In the Text folder, should i erase all of them but Spanish? because American English is not there. Only British english.

Yeah, you can safely delete the files you don't need. I like to recommend that people copy them to their computer prior to deleting them from the unit ... just in case ....

languages

The good news is you can reload missing languages if you screw up from the Garmin website if you are using a garmin unit

Deleting files

Don't forget to backup and delete any vehicles you're not going to use and the manuals. This will free up space for POI's.

How is this done?

I am new to the GPS world. How do you delete stuff from the unit and how do you copy it to your PC? When my GPS is hooked up I can't even see it listed as a drive.

The c330 does not show up as a USB Mass Storage device on the computer, so you cannot access or delete the files in the way described in this thread. Sorry.

What map is it?

How did it get loaded to your unit?

How are you trying to delete the map?

Map Deletion

Hi MM-

I was trying to delete a 2nd or duplicate copy of the North America 2008 update. I kept getting a warning when turning on my Garmin saying some maps were locked even though I had installed the new maps and they were unlocked and working. After a great deal or research online and very little help from Garmin tech support. I read a post about a program called img2gps which I instructed to erase my maps. It somehow removed the error. I think somehow there were two of the same map on my system on that worked and on that didn't. Somehow telling img2gps to erase my maps deleted only the one that didn't work because it's all good now. You probably know better than I why!!

Thanks for the help!!

C330 Backup Option

The C330 will allow you to backup and edit your favorites using MapSource. You can call Garmin and let them know you need MapSource to backup your favorites. In some cases they send it for free and in others there is a small price tag.
Good luck bud.

Thanks Bandaid

I talked with Garmin today and they are sending it out free.

Shame it won't let me back everything up. I can use EasyGPS to backup the favorites.
