NPR Transmitter Tower Locations

Does anyone know of a database of National Public Radio station tower locations? It would be nice while traveling to check for the closest station and the frequency to tune to. It would be nice too if one could have the coverage of the station as a proximity so it would alert when passing from one stations coverage to the next. If I had a source for these data I would be glad to work up a POI set for it.

Where to find lat/long of any US radio station's tower

You can locate the lat/long of any radio station's tower by visiting the FCC Web site.

For AM stations, start with the AM Query form at http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/amq.html

For FM stations, start with the FM Query form at http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/fmq.html

Some of your NPR stations are not listed

I am working on your list. Looked up each station you mentioned on NPR's master list of stations. The following were not listed.
KFAC
WECC
WFSL
WCKZ
WVUB
KFUO
WNAF
WVXM
WVXA
Can you clarify how you found these as NPR stations. I am using the site: http://www.npr.org/stations/

I am working on the other stations now.

I got my list from the same

I got my list from the same source a few months ago. Perhaps they have gone off the air or have been deleted as incorrect.

Thanks for the updated file sent privately.

I am writing an iPhone application that shows NPR stations near it (using the new triangulation feature) or all NPR stations. You can go to the web site for the station, find out how far you are from the station, and look at the google map of its location.

Obviously this can be extended to show any POI list and I am starting a new thread to discuss that possibility.

Find the towers

I use this site to find the coordinates of the tower.

If we need help updating this file I'm willing to start with Michigan and see what other time I have from there.

That is one of the sites we used to create the files. Have you found errors that need to be updated? If so, let us know.
