There must be a unused function or option

On my Nuvi, when I want to seek a custom POI, I hit these buttons:

"Where to?" - On main screen and a LIST of options pops up.
"Extras" - On where to menu, and ONE option is available, the "Custom POIs" selection.

Now here is my question... If Custom POI's are the only thing you can select, why do you have to select them? Shouldn't the "Extras" button just take you there? There must be some extra feature I don't have at hand that will utilize this page. Am I missing the boat here? Does everyone else have a choice here?

No Extras - maybe later?

To the best of my knowledge, right now there are not other extras that you can add. BUT, if Garmin ever thinks of any, I guess they have a location on the device to put them, right?

Garmin nüvi 200 (my first GPS), 780, & 3700 Series. And a Mac user.

You Can Purchase extras from Garmin.

When I select extras, I have a choice between Custom POI's and Fodor's North America which came with my Garmin 660 but with some systems has to be purchase online or from garmin a dealer. When I look online at Garmin.com there are several extras you can purchase that come on and are installed from
SD cards. By the way Fodor's North America is just a list of custom POI's for major cities throughout the USA created for you. If it had'nt came with my unit I would'nt have purchased it. There is nothing there you can't find here or create yourself.

SaversGuide too...

I sort of thought that's what the extras was for.

Has any tried the Garmin SaversGuide Membership & SD Card combination yet?

The Extra's area is just that, any extra that you purchase like Fodor's. I have Fodor's and don't use it much. It contains cities even in S America, national parks, wine country, etc. Within each group it will show you Restaurants, Hotels, Nightlife, Shopping, Sights, Travel Tips, Overview and Highlights of each place.

If you have no extras it should take you to Custom POIs

A menu of one item should never be displayed.

Menus of one are a not needed step

I agree.

Not Worth It

I was given a Savers Guide along with my GPSr and had problems everytime I tried to use it. Not one place knew they accepted it and had to check with management and a few outright refused to honor it.

MadMaps routes and POIs go

MadMaps routes and POIs go there if you download them from the Garmin website. I had problems with the routing function of the nuvi 760 after installing MadMaps with firware 2.6, so until there is a further firware update, I can't recommend MadMaps. I ended up deleting the MadMaps files and the routing function works again.
