POI Loader not working

I just downloaded and installed garmin POI Loader 2.42 and all I get when I open (run) it is the splash screen. Has this happened to anyone else? I tried re-downloading it but same result. I tried with zumo 550 plugged in and not. ???

What OS are you running?

If you are running XP, do you have your task bar anywhere but the bottom of the screen? If so, move it to the bottom.

Please explain why it would not work with tray at top of screen. Just curious.

Sounds like a typical Microsoft thing. Don't we wish there was an alternative for PCs. Competition sure improved the browsers.

Yep, I've had a Mac ever

Yep, I've had a Mac ever since I was 4 years old (in 1984). Quality machines, a little pricey, but the OS it completely worth it.

I use both Macs and PCs at home but still...

The POI Loader for Mac works great!

I have no idea why.

But people have reported that if the taskbar is anywhere but at the bottom, they don't get any buttons on their POI Loader window.

Well it doesn't work as great as the Windows version!
But of course, that's Garmin's doing - in typical fashion, it's got one or two bugs that were removed from the Windows version, a few releases ago!

Things like the BBC scrolling News Ticker upset it as well. Also, I'd not realised, but different desktop themes have an influence as well. With the 'legacy' Windows-2000 theme, you can see enough of the buttons to click them, but with the Windows XP ("Happy Meal" rolleyes ) theme, they're missing altogether.
