Virus Alert?

I am getting virus alerts each time I navigate to this site and from page to page within this site, is anyone else getting that?

CA eTrust / ZoneAlarm?

It appears that the 31.12.2007 patch of CA Antivirus has a signature problem that is showing a false positive for a widely used javascript library.

As a precaution, I checked the javascript library used at POI Factory and verified that it has not been altered.

I hadn't noticed this until

I hadn't noticed this until I read your post, and sure enough, there at the bottom of my screen were two virus alerts. But I haven't got any more of them, despite moving from screen to screen. In any case, thanks for mentioning this... I'm glad to know it's just a false positive, and nothing to really be concerned about.

CA has apparently already issued an updated signature file. I just downloaded an update to the eTrust signatures and the warnings have gone away.

AVG Control Center..........

says Virus Vault is empty. I haven't had a virus in ages. If your still getting the false positive, try running House Call. That will certainly tell you something.

The story is...

CA pushed out a virus signature update yesterday that incorrectly matched some JavaScript that this and other sites use and started reporting that it found a virus. So the calls and emails started this morning as people started getting the "virus found" messages. CA released an update this afternoon to fix their bug. It affected anyone who had an antivirus application or appliance based on CA eTrust. There never was a virus, it was a false alarm.

Thanks for the post.

I sent an e-mail to Miss POI about the problem but you all have answered the problem. I also use CA internet security. I no longer get the virus message so they must have corrected the problem.

Computer Associates, one of the bigger conglomerates of business software. www.ca.com

So those of us who were using work computers or work laptops at home were hit first by this problem, since CA eTrust is one of the more popular antivirus suites in the corporate world.
