so garmin will give u a dvd for the c530 just for asking?

When you requested your copy, did you contact Garmin by e-mail or by phone? What exactly did you ask them for? Is this the same as Mapsource? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm also interested in being able to load waypoints back and forth from my computer to my c530. Let us know what you find out from Garmin. Thanks!

I called (long wait time) and asked if there wasn't a way to get the maps onto my PC to handle waypoints. I didn't want to have to purchase a "second copy" of Navigator NT at full price! The tech said it wouldn't be necessary and that he would send me the CD at no charge. As I mentioned in my original comment, he said that he didn't know why it wasn't included as the cost was certainly much less than the agrivation they had experienced from customers.

The DVD includes Mapsource.

Called Garmin - waited 5 minutes - and they are sending me a DVD at no charge!

The only thing they said was that you cannot transfer routes to GPS.

Contacted Garmin support via email and they are shipping me the DVD free of charge.

Requested a DVD for my new c330. But they asked me to buy it for $15 if I need.

Have I bumped into a bad tech rep or it's just they don't care about low end c330 users ?

I've heard that Garmin has tried to get some people to pay for a DVD. Did you talk to someone in sales or tech support? What other people have said is to try and call back again and talk to a different person in tech support. From what I've read, you shouldn't have to pay. I sent in an e-mail request to tech support and was never asked to pay. Good luck.

You are correct. Sent the same email and this time picked up by a different tech rep. A City Navigator DVD will be sent to me, free of charge!

Requested the mapsource software.

Got a reply today! Which reads in part:

"I am happy to help you with this. I have placed an order for the software for you. Please reference order number ######## if needing to inquire about your delivery."

Now, I wonder how long it will take to get to my mailbox.

mine came in 2 days and there was the ice storm.

Received the dvd today, no charge. No questions asked.
Truly, ask and you shall receive.

its a dvd cd. so u have to have a dvd drive in ur puter. most new units have this. install the program. u need an unlock code to open it once it is installed. ull find it in the box ur unit came in on a yellow piece of paper or if not call garmin tech and they will give ur the code.
once the program is open u have the same maps on puter as in gps. but u can see routes and waypoints and pre loaded poi. great tool.u cant transfer routes to ur unit however. dont try it can lock ur unit up. enjoy.

Received my DVD today from Garmin.. You can tell its not original buy a copy..

Now that I have it. How do you put in POI's and load them into the unit?

I have only limited experience. You need to convert the .csv file into a .gpx file and then you can open it in Mapsource. To convert the file, you can use the program POI Edit. It is referenced in the FAQ's.

I have been using a Magellan Meridian gold for geocaching for a few years now. I also have the mapsend software, which I thought was the best thing since sliced bread. That is until I purchased my Street Pilot 330 for better street navigation. To make a long story short.... Thanks to everyone who said that a copy of MapSource software is available from Garmin. Mine is on the way!!

got my dvd Last week, took me 2 tries to get it..

I have a c330 and they sent me the CD, no charge. I can't get it work, but I've got it!

I created a map set, sent it to the GPS and was confirmed sent. GPS doesn't seem to "see" the map.

on 3/6/07, I called Garmin (can get the number from the garmins site) and got to the TECH support (dont go to sales) and asked for the DVD, with no problems at all they told me they will send it but will take 3 to 6 weeks.. hope it comes sooner than that!!
