DIsplaying exit numbers on interstates?

Is it possible to get a nuvi 260 to display the exit numbers on the interstate as you approach them instead of just showing the names of the streets that intersect with the interstate at the exit ramps?

I'll have to check later

I'll have to check later today, but I think my 250W displays exit numbers in the upcoming intersection banner. ...maybe I'm thinking of when it gives exit numbers as part of my route. I've got a 7 hour road trip later today, so I'll have to check that out!

good question

that's a really good question. I have a nuvi 350, i'll have to check

I Have The 660.............

and when I just use the View Map, instead of Where To, it shows the Exit Numbers. It doesn't use the word Exit, just the number.

I know my 200 displays exit numbers

I know my 200 displays exit numbers when I am following a route (in the green banner), but I don't recall ever seeing exit numbers on the map screen.

My nuvi 350 show the exit

My nuvi 350 show the exit number on the bar and it also announce the exit number

Exit numbers

Did you have to set up the nuvi 350 to get it to say the exit names?

Map vs route mode.

But that is only when you are in route mode. What about when you are in map mode, which is what I believe was the question.

Exit Numbers

My nuvi 650 announces the exit Nos., but I think you have to have a TTS voice for that.

route mode only

You are correct it is on the route mode not on the map mode.

But that would be cool if in

But that would be cool if in map mode, they had Exit 15 - North Broad St on the bar instead of North Broad st ahead.

Exit Number Displays

I just checked my 350 sitting here on the desk and in 2D mode, it is showing the exit numbers. EX: here on I-295 and Highway 10 intersection, it shows both 15A and 15B exit numbers on the map, without a route. I'll look at it when, I go out, in 3D.

I think it depends on how

I think it depends on how some of the data has been entered. I have my 650 on map view when driving home from work. Some exits are list as "Exit 7A ahead" while others diplay the street name.

Exit Numbers on Map

My 650 shows the exit numbers based on the zoom level of the map I'm viewing at the time.

Confused

Does your Nuvi "announce" exit numbers?

I know it "displays" exit numbers on my 650.

Depends on circumstances?

It might depend on how they are labelled in the map. And I suspect it might also be affected by having several ramps very close together. My Nuvi 350 has always said "take ramp, on right, to xxx avenue". But the other night it routed me through a very complex interchange where there were 3 ramps in the space of a half mile. That was the first time I that I can remember hearing it say the exit numbers.

Come to Think of it...

my 650 does say the exit number, sometimes.
e.g. "Take ramp, to exit 196, then turn right..."
But other times it will say the street name of the offramp, "take Main Street exit, then turn right..."

Things that make you go hmmmmm

Could be wrong

I know it "displays" exit numbers on my 650.

But I seriously doubt that the nuvi "announces" anything in map mode except for POI alerts.

Yep, my 250W shows exit

Yep, my 250W shows exit number both for upcoming intersection in map mode, or next turn in route mode.

True

...same holds true for the LN740, in map mode, POI's as well as the speed alerts are heard.

It speaks and displays the

It speaks and displays the exit that you are supposed to get off at in your route...I just want it to display the exit numbers at the intersections so I know what exit i'm coming up on if there doesn't happen to be any signs around.

Yep, mine too

Mine shows exit numbers when in map mode, not nav mode.

Announce Exit number

Some seem to say their Nuvi 350 does announce exit numbers in route mode.

I have tried this ... but the only way I can get my Nuvi 350 to announce exit numbers and such is to put them in a poi file and load them.

Is there a way to do this without a poi file?

My 260....

...shows exit numbers on the map in 2d view from 800 ft scale and closer. It announces them in TTS only when you are taking the exit, and not always then. I haven't yet figured out why it does it sometime and not others, but it always manages to get me where I'm going, so I guess it really doesn't matter.
