Nuvi 200 Map

Do you guys know why the Nuvi 200 does not come equip with maps for Canada and Puerto Rico?

I have an i5 with a V8 map which includes Canada and Puerto Rico.

Because it's a cheapy

Because it's a cheapy version of the Nuvi. According to Garmin, Puerto Rico is included, but not Canada. Just buy the maps afterwards as needed, I guess.

Newest to oldest... Nüvi 660, Street Pilot 2720, Magellan SporTrak Pro, Lowrance Global Map 100

.

According to Garmin's website the nuvi 200 "comes with preloaded maps for the continental U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico or regional coverage in other areas".

There are two ways to answer the question.

1. It comes with less coverage because the internal storage is not sufficient to hold more.

2. It is set at a lower price range than other current models that have more map coverage.

So basically, you get what you pay for.

Somewhat Agree

I agree to a an extent.

My i5 was way cheaper than the Nuvi 200 and it has all the map coverage. Since Canada is just another state smile....the map size should not be an issue.

Just kidding about Canada by the way.

What if bought in Canada?

So what if you buy one in Canada, is it totally useless as is?

The nuvi 200 comes with

The nuvi 200 comes with the 48 contiguous states, PR and HI. You can add Canada, and Alaska on an SD card with MapSource. In fact, with a 1GB SD card you can probably add all of Europe also.

The 200 is an excellent entry level GPSr and you can add the total coverage of the higher priced nuvis later on if needed.
