Considering the terrific price they had on the 650 (and will have again), I'm surprised that they were charging so much for the 680. I really expected them to come in around $399. But, oops!!! It looks like they ran out of the 680's, too. It's no longer listed on their website. Guess it was a pretty good price after all!
Yes, I paid the $499 and then the next day I noticed that the price dropped to $479....20.00 less, so I called CS and she credited me the $20.00 to my account. They went fast.
After taking the family down to Fla this past month..my Parents loved the 680 I had and went right out and bought one for themselves!

In another topic that I posted the other day I mentioned the few glitches I found with the 660, i.e. the poor handling of traffic alerts and detours. I thought it was worth trying the 680's alternative system for what is a much better price than I paid for the 660 ($629+tx).
I'm still waiting for the jury to come in on the 760 and for its pricing to come down.
This purchase made sense to me because I'll have Costco's 90 day return policy to make up my mind or to find another model or a better price. And I do miss having a GPS with the bluetooth feature when I make calls on the road.
I figure that I can't go wrong.

I bought mine online at Costco.com over the Thanksgiving weekend for the $479 + shipping. Local Costco didn't have them. Worth the wait. It's super. When you enroll for the 12 month free MSN traffic & local updates, you can get another 6 months for under $10.
If you're not a costco member, I think you can still shop online at Costco by paying a 5% premium.
I think this is still the best deal on the 680 around.
You must sign up with MSN to get the 1 year free service. When registering, they offer you the additional 6 months for $10 or additional years / lifetime options (don't remember what they cost). So, you get the 18 months (12 free + 6 paid) for the $10.

I've seen the Nuvi 680 on sale in the actual stores only. Its not for sale on the internet. Head to the store for the $399 price. Its still available, but you need to take a drive to buy it.
