My frist run with my Nuvi 350

I just took my first day trip with my new Garmin Nuvi 350 I loaded in the address I was going to and then proceeded to divert from the route the unit wanted me to take. My wife now wants to get my attention by saying "recalculating" when I'm not listening to her as she seems to think that I am listening more to my Garmin. I actually was quite surprised at how well the unit recovered from my divergent path and was able to re-route with the new roads I took.

I had some friends with me and they were impressed enough by the units capabilities that they want one too. I am thinking of contacting Garmin to see if I can start a franchise sales office here in NC.

The unit did get me to my destination and even took me off road in one area where the road I was on was too new to be on the map. It didn't miss a beat!

GPS unit

The GPS units are extremely good & fun(hence the popularity of this forum), imagine your wife's expression when instead of "recalculating" the voice says "Damn you Fred", Stand by as Poi-factory, includes custom voices as well as custom POIs.

I can tell, you are hooked.

-You bought a great unit. I remember when I began using mine about a year ago. I would change routes just to see the unit recalculate. That really build your trust in a hurry. Last Spring we drove from Wisconsin to Florida and never even took a paper map with us. It has also guided me all over Southern California.

What is nice is the ability to pre prorgam in your favorites for a particular trip ahead of time. We are going to Hilton Head Island in three weeks. I have about 20 placed already saved. Once I land in Savannah, I will just attach Heather (my c530)to the windshield and follow her lead.

Hey All, Thanks for the

Hey All,

Thanks for the encouragement. My wife and I enjoy the ease of use and now she won't be telling me to stop and ask directions every hour or so. I suspect my trips will go a bit faster and frinedlier from now on.

I live in an area that isn't on the Garmin map at the present time (new community) so the unit knows my address but wants to start my trips other than the way I would normally go so the reroute button is very helpful and in any event once I am on the main route the unit takes me correctly each step of the way.

I also want to comment what a great site this is for info for a newbie like me. All of you are very helpful and the folks that run the site are very helpful. I look forward to a long association here with fellow GPS'rs.
