Topo on a nuvi

Has anyone tried the MapSource US Topo maps on a nuvi. Curious to know if it can be used as a map supplement and if the topo shows over the road map.

Topo on Nuvi

I have loaded many topo maps onto mine. In my experience, they only work by themselves, and if I forget to de-select them, the icon indicating my vehicle isn't "on the road", but somewhere along side of it. The first time I noticed this, I was certain there was a problem with the unit, but then I remembered demonstrating the topo feature to a friend, and remembering that I hadn't de-selected the topo maps. As soon as I did that, everything was back to normal. I use the topo feature to give me an idea of what sort of terrain I'm heading into.

Are you using a...

SD card to hold the maps? Where did you fins these?

You can purchase maps on SD cards from Garmin or simple store maps on an SD card using MapSource.

My nuvi 200 only has enough memory for the 48 states. Using MapSource, I copied Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii onto an SD card so I now have the entire 2008 North America NT maps on my nuvi 200.

I plan to purchase the Europe maps on an SD card or DVD and copy them to an SD card.

When do you store the topos?

Did you store the Topos on your GPSr internal memory, or an SD card? Due to the limited memory in the nuvi200, I want to store the maps on an SD, but didn't know how that would interact with the supplemental road maps I already have on the SD card.
