Curious blue line along the road (on my Nuvi 350)

I just received my 350 yesterday, and was out trying it out last evening. As I drove along one road, a strange blue line (obviously drawn) appeared irregularly, along the road I was driving on, on the map. This line disappeared in a mile or so and did not reappear until I got back to that specific portion of road a couple of hours later. What was I seeing?

It must be a stream that was or is there.

Waterways
You do not need to have water to have a stream designated as a waterway. The US Geological Survey designates where water runoff accrues.

I have never paid attention but I will have to check out some of the local streams and see if they show up. I know the river and lakes do but I have never looked that closely for the little bodies of water.
