On my older Garmin Nuvi's I was able to enter and display owner info (name, address, telephone etc) and was able to add a custom startup splashscreen with contact info in case of loss (or theft!).
I cannot find any way to do this on the DriveSmart 66.
I have connected to the Windows computer in mass storage mode, so I can see all files including the hidden .System folder and maps, but I cannot find any txt or bmp files.
Does anyone know if a custom splash screen and owner text file can be added?
I'd like to know too.
I have a Drivesmart 65, and I'd like to do the same. Thanks for asking.

maybe ?
in the old handheld, I have in the glovebox for when I leave the camper somewhere ridiculous and go bush,
it is a file startup.txt /internalstorage/garmin/startup.txt
ascii text only 256 bytes maximum
maybe it just has to exist to load? dunno
the startup text in the camper/etrex says
SAVE CURRENT LOCATION
AS WAYPOINT
you need to get back here
this device can't display images so not sure about splash screen, can you put the image in the image folder and then in operating mode choose something like "show image at startup" from selecting the pic

At least with respect to the DS 66, the Garmin website at https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=LlFukC8QNi2TunIbXUkMl7... reports that a custom splash screen isn't possible but then directs you to the Help file. That specifically states "It is not possible to transfer photos to customize the Splash Screen on your Garmin device."

No security PIN
I cannot find any reference to a 4-digit security PIN like in my older Garmin GPS units, that would lock the unit until the proper PIN was entered.
What other things are missing from the DS-66?
Certainly, the DS-66 has improved on other aspects of the technology, but it is disappointing to see some valuable security and personalization features disappear.
That was called Garmin Lock

That feature was called Garmin Lock. I know it was not on the nuvi 2495 which I only owned for a short period in 2011. It is on my nuvi 265 and the feature also incorporated the "security location". In the event of you not remembering the PIN you could drive to the previously defined security location and the device would unlock without the PIN.

Based on my observations,
Based on my observations, Garmin Lock was removed by 2014, as my nüvi 65LMT doesn't have it. More than likely, the 2013 nüvis are also missing it, making that 2011 cut off date more likely.
I personally never used it, and all the GPSrs I bought from the thrift stores didn't have pins set, so based on that sample size I suspect it didn't see a lot of use. That is possibly why Garmin removed it.
