summer travel
while working on summer travel routes, decided I needed to learn some things.
When I make a route, I use multiple websites with multiple screens open at the same time. I use Excel to store my waypoints building my route, until I have the route finalized. I then want to put this route into my GPS, but don't like having to retype and search for everything.
So, I learned how, in Excel, to turn an address into a latitude and longitude. Then, using VBA to create a GPX file. I load that GPX file into BaseCamp, highlight my waypoints, create the route, then transfer that route to my GPS.
It works fast, not like it sounds. And, much faster than keying the data in manually into my DriveSmart (or one of my other GPS models). Also, this allows me to put the same route on several GPS' as I take a second on as a backup on my travels.

Gave my 2006 Canyon to my daughter and bought a 2018 Canyon with only 33,000 miles on it. The guy who owned it only put 5-6,000 miles a year on it. Traded it in because his 95 year old mother couldn’t get in the truck anymore and he had to buy an SUV. Got a V6 vs a 4 cylinder and it has a lot more bells and whistles than my old truck. Also, I get about the same MPG as the old truck. Not bad!
