Weirdest Theft

I had someone break into my Tahoe and steal my sdcard but not the actual unit. I was puzzled because the base is hard mounted but you can pull the face off, unplug and it's yours less the wire and mount. I'm still scratching my head about it.

Anyway I decided I would look at some used units on eBay since technology is changing so quick, and see what was out there. I noticed the current map here was 2022.25 but on garmin its Current Map Version: 2023.20 (North America) as of July 13th, 2022 Here is the source:https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?productID=37418&tab=software

I've been member for a minute or two, I just have not contributed due to not having worthy topics. I figured this might prompt someone to check to see if they can get this map.

Thanks for reading. Have a good day from Texas.

North America 2023.20

The map I have is North America 2023.20. The current one reported on POI Factory 7-13-22 . http://www.poi-factory.com/node/52369

I agree with you a weird thief.

Thanks Charles I guess my lack of contribution and conversation was preventing me from seeing the map download. I still haven't figured out why someone would just steal my card. None of my friends or relatives did it. It's ok though. I needed to order another for my drone, and they had a 2 for 1 sale and let me mix match sizes since Garmin only allows 32gb.

Have a careful look

Have a careful look around the floor. Perhaps the thief was scared off and didn’t really take the card. My nuvi 2689 has the card slot at the lower left, underside surface of the GPS. It is also sort of spring loaded so can readily pop out once pushed. My wife frequently pops the card out when mounting or dismounting the 2689. Perhaps long nails are at fault. I usually find the card but often they are a bear to get out from the area between the seat and console.

In contrast, an older Garmin GPS (265 maybe) has the slot along the top.

Not so much the location

The location isn't the real issue. The issue is Garmin removing the spring-loaded card slot. Based upon some quick research, when Garmin changed the design of the nüvi units in 2011 with the nüvi 30, 40, and 50 is when they removed the spring-loaded card slot. A spring-loaded slot would have solved the problem as it has a locking mechanism for the card, and having one virtually guarantees that the card will a) never fall out, and b) never be stolen.

Most nüvi units prior to 2013 had the card slot on the left or right sides of the unit.

Weird Thefts

We had a couple of weird thefts in the past. Someone got into our son's unlocked pickup and found nothing to steal but did manage to lose their hand held taser unit in the truck. I also had someone get into my truck and steal the changed from one of those little spring loaded deals in the console. They got maybe $3.00 from that. It was an '84 Ford so it had an ashtray. I had over $30.00 in change in the ashtray that the thief missed.

I'm pretty boggled by the theft of the SD card. People are sooooooooooo freaking weird.

weird theft

With what is happening now, who knows what he was thinking when he took the card. I agree with the previois poster that the card may have been dropped by the person who took it I hope you find it. I removed an SD card once in the car and dropped it and have never fount it. I am hesitant to take my care to the car wash as I do not want them to vacuum it up since it has pictures on it. It fell inot some crevice of hte car but I dont know how to find it.
