How does Garmi Prevent Loading on mutiple units

If you have 2 Nuvi's, what is preventing you from loading the software update on one then doing the same on the other?
I am not suggesting not paying for 2 DVD updates, but I was just curious.
I asked garmin same question..
And got same answer as 97wing. Sorry if my response previously posted was not clear enough.

Garmin does allow the maps
Garmin does allow the maps installed on 2 units. You have to call to get an unlock for your 2nd Garmin gps at no charge.

Am I understanding you correctly.. I have two Garmin Units, Nuvi 660 and 680 and was told I had to order two map updates, I could not update both units with only one map purchase..Please correct me if I am wrong and got ripped off.

Up until recently, you could unlock two GPS units with one software. Now, you can only use it for one. You will have to buy an addional unlock code.
