Update for Garmin DriveSmart 55 Software

I just checked on My DriveSmart 55 and saw that there is a software update. The update size is 62 MB.

It lists several things that are being updated, and for a change a few of the items listed seemed as quite important and useful patches.

It says the following:

DriveSmart x5
Version: 9.30
File Size: 62 MB

>Improved the amount of time it takes to reacquire a satelite signal after the signal is lost.
>Improved parking checks when routing to restricted area.
>fixed route calculations when adding shaping points to upcoming legs of trip,
>Fixed an issue that sometimes caused speaker noise when voice command was used to stop navigation.
>Improved software stability.

All of these seem at least of some importance. For example, after coming out of a tunnel (as I live in the NYC Metro where tere are plenty) it would take a short period of time till it got the signal back. I'll check to see next time i use the tunnel etc if it got better.

Enjoy the update, and hit the road!smile

Thanks

I'll check mine today to see if there is a new update.

Same Update

for the DriveSmart 65.

Thanks

Updated

Change log.

Do any of you have a link for the change log of that update? If so, I can update the Change Log FAQ.

In the past, I always found a current summary of Garmin updates from a Polish site, with the vehicular On The Road updates promptly appearing here:

http://www.gmaptool.eu/en/content/road

and with the Drive subset here:

http://www.gmaptool.eu/en/content/drive

The most recent On The Road updates are from August 2020 even though other parts of the site are being updated:

http://www.gmaptool.eu/en/content/recent-updates

I hope that updates return to the vehicular series of devices (or having Garmin post updates with Change Logs on their site) and have my fingers crossed.

Doesn't garmin express

Doesn't garmin express provide a change log when it offers the firmware update in the first place? I vaguely recall seeing that the last time I did an update.

Granted, I probably should update the maps on the ds61 and 65 to this year's versions.

My only real issue with the 65 is the messed up auto zoom. If i'm doing 55 mph on a secondary road, it should be more zoomed out than it is when i'm doing 30mph.

Zoom out will occur at ~60

Zoom out will occur at ~60 mph. Zoom in will occur at ~45 mph, and only when routing. If you are going 55, bump your speed up to 60 then drop back and it will Zoom out and stay there till speed drops below 45 mph.

It would seem that Garmin has quit providing web based links to Drive/Dezl/RV/Zumo change logs for software updates. That appears to have started about the time they introduced models with WiFi update capabilities.

2021 zumo change log

An entry has been made for a zumo model:

http://www.gmaptool.eu/en/content/zumo

Still, it's the only On-the-Road update offered in 2021 according to the gmaptool site.

It may well be that there have been no updates offered by Garmin in 2021 for the various device series.
