Well... this should be interesting.

Perhaps you can post on a new book you're reading, a new hobby you're taking up or about random finds as you finally get around to cleaning out the...

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Most stores were closed and there was very little traffic. A few people were outside walking. All roads leading into the Smoky Mountain National Park were inaccessible and barricaded.

its

interesting to see the arguments in the world about when to open, now, May 15, later, etc., then to see the arguments by scientists of 18+ months. As if we were all shocked to find us in our situations already, then to hear more bad news like that. I don't think it's sunk in yet that life has changed. I mean I was traveling for work as late as early March. But oil futures being below $0 barrel is not a joke or funny in any way. Even as a kid I can somehow envision farmers pouring milk down the drain, but never in my life would I envision oil being like that. Pay someone to get rid of it?

bleak as science is right now, one article I read did say we cannot stop living, and if one does need to shop, one just needs to be very careful. And those who are compromised should explore pickup and delivery. But at minimum, I was glad to see a doctor who was saying we're kinda in a bind for 18 mos, that one does need to have some normalcy in life. And his words were it should be physical, not social, distancing. We're humans. We're social by nature to even say it's a need....why are we typing here? lol

Other than going to work and back every day, no trips--stay at home orders and such

Then I woke up

Went to get a haircut by my regular stylist. Then to a dinner with a friend at a place we always wanted to try.

The place was packed but we were pampered by the waitstaff like some kind of VIP. Until the state police showed up which prompted our daring escape. My preprogrammed escape route worked perfectly....

Then I woke up, hearing the alarm clock next to me instead of the police siren behind me.

Propane Refill

With all the different places being possibly closed I needed to fill up a couple of propane tanks as I do not exchange. My go too spot was closed to retail customers so had to find new place. Did not realize that not all but some UHaul locations also filled propane. Popped into GPS and was there in a short time.

not kidding had a nightmare last week. My son and I (6 yo) were at the eye doctor (no idea where this came from). All was ok when suddenly we went down the hall and I swear it was packed like the pics of when Wuhan opened up and all these people headed for the mountains. Instinctively I said we have got to leave, but we were pressed against people and had to snake through folks to make it out. Just by the density, I was saying wow my decision just cost me and my son our lives. No kidding I was relieved to wake up. I rarely remember any dreams. But bizarre, why the eye doctor? And the office in the dream was a lot bigger than the real office which is down the road in town.

Down the street

Feeling adventurous. Walked as far as the stop sign on the corner to get some exercise. grin

Got a Walmart pickup time slot today--for me this would be the first time leaving home since March 21. My wife has been going out every 2 weeks or so.

My wife selected no substitutions so it would be interesting if the pickup ends up being nothing at all or significantly less. The store is messy on a normal day, so now, not sure if whomever puts the order together can find everything.

I don't know how "normal" people can avoid Walmart. I mean just to give an example, a chili oil that costs $3.10 in Walmart, is $11 on amazon.com from 3rd party sellers, and like $5.xx if amazon had it in stock.

At the same time, my buddy said he went to Walmart on Fri. and people were in one another's face, no physical distancing. I told him don't take it lightly you've got to do it, he said I know but it was impossible.

At least Costco has people going one direction and telling them to make their selection and keep moving please. Costco is the amazon of bricks and mortar. I really wish I had bought their stock back when they did the special dividend. Lucky I have amazon stock, it's up like 33% over the last year, whereas the general market is down 16% (not "that" bad can come back).

Wegmans has changed also.

The store have 1 entrance and 1 exit. The isles are one way only, but that doesn't stop the idiots that go against what is laid out. There are lines at the checkouts to keep the 6 ft distance. They put up shields to protect the cashiers but they do very little because they aren't long enough. Also, you can't get in the store without a mask.
