It’s already here in Austin, TX

I’ was driving with my Son and he had his android on a active route and it told us about lane closures up ahead. Unfortunately not quick enough for us to find an alternate route.

The End of Waze?

Think Waze will get shut down, and the Waze features moved to Google Maps?

When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.

Not for a while. Waze is

Not for a while. Waze is pushing really hard on the carpooling thing right now. Plus, Waze has a large community thing with some interaction that Google has. I don't think Google has tried to push a concept like this yet.

Waze was founded on that Community, and it's been keeping it going pretty well since then. Even after Google took it over. It still does the map corrections/editing thing, and Google probably doesn't want to get into that, on it's main app. Maybe some edits may make it into Google, but I expect they rely on updating from paid for satellite data.

Hope So

I've taken a liking to Waze and use it more and more. It has improved from when I first tried it years ago, and it now works for me.

I woold be really surprised

I woold be really surprised if Waze survives as a standalone app now that Google owns it.

It would make $$$ sense for Google to incorporate it's best features into Google Maps. Afterall, that's what Google is all about. i.e. $$$

I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.
