Hey everyone....I'm pretty new on here, but already working on my first POI project. I'm always out on the road looking for abandoned places, and other odd things in the middle of nowhere to get photos of. I also run a blog covering that, and a few other travel-related topics. My specialty is Route 66 and the desert southwest. Anyway, the POI project will be ongoing, and I'm open to working with a few others on it.
Cheers!
Welcome to the Factory
First of all, backroads66, welcome to the POI-Factory. Lots of good stuff here.
Second of all, to your question about odd places along the old Route 66, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that when I was in the Navy I once took a bus from San Diego to St. Louis and saw a lot of odd things along the way, especially in Arizona and New Mexico. The bad news? That was 55 years ago and I don't remember a damn thing. Anyway, welcome.

Thanks! Arizona and New Mexico have a lot of the good stuff...some of it is still standing, but in such bad shape.

I just came back from a cross country trip out west. Hit Delta, UT and the abandoned Solar Research Center. That was cool. We traveled Nevada Route 50, 'the Loneliest Road in America'.
Last summer I stayed overnight in Tucumcari, NM. Good old Route 66!
