Garmin 3597 Waypoints

Is it possible to save over 3,000 waypoints to the garmin 3597? My internal memory is almost full and need to figure out how to transfer some of it to a 32gb memory card and install the 3,000 waypoints. Is it even possible to store waypoints to a memory card? I've looked everywhere and can't find the answer. Thanks

Yes

Yes. With the memory card in the unit, connect to the computer, start BaseCamp. then select the memory card in the upper left. Highlight your waypoints. Select the Upload Arrow in the Menu Bar and then select the memory card on the upload dialog.

Disconnect, restart. It should now ask yo about the waypoints on the card. You can also install POIs to the memory card using POI Loader.

As far as gaining memory on the unit, you need to connect the unit to the computer, then look at the unit in the Directory. You can remove unneeded voices, language files, help files, excess archive files, etc. Did I fail to mention back up all the files on the unit before you do this?

You can search the Discussions for post related to removing excess files, freeing memory, and backing up files for more details. Start with the FAQs, everything you need is there.

Hmmm ...

Will that work? Most devices have a limit of 1000 saved places or favourites. If you need to install 3000 you'd need to convert them to POIs.

You're right, sussamb. I

You're right, sussamb. I forgot about that limit. POIs might be the better way to do that. POI lists can be created in Basecamp, then upload through POI loader.
