One thing I note is if I've been absent for what is a relatively short period, probably 36 to 48 hours, I have to input my User Name to log on. If I'm on daily, it seems to be retained. Is there a setting to control the interval or can it be a 2019 resolution to lengthen this time?
only speak for myself.
Depending where I am I have 2 Windows 10 laptops and they remember my log-in. Though I have seen it a few time that I have to click the log-in at the top right for whatever reason, but my log-in info is automatically entered.
My iPad also remembers the log-in.
I think it may be your system which is at fault that it does not retain the log-in. I may not be right though.
This might be related to the cookie retention in the browser you are using. If you clear browsing history frequently, that function also clears the cookies in most browsers. And that will cause you to have to log in the next time you use the forum.
I have not had this issue on POI Factory, but I do log in most every day.
Typically, my laptop and phone stay logged in fro a week or so before I have to log in.
One laptop, one Android phone and an Android tablet.
Holds original login for a week or two. Might have to login on one device at a different time than another. It is what it is. No big deal to login.
Did you keep coming back to the site everyday or every 2 days? If that's the case, you will stay logged in. I believe that's because your cookies get refreshed after x hours when you revisit the site.
You will be kicked out if you stop visiting the site in about 2 days (just a wild guess). I notice this too if I forgot to sign out on Friday afternoon (on my work PC). I have to re-login on Monday morning.
You will be kicked out when cookies TTL (time to live) expires. That's what OP is asking mods to extend.
The log out log in thing seems pretty random for me.
I check in every day and the login screen pops up. I have a laptop and a PC, one running Windows 10 Pro, the other is 10 Home and it's random on both.
I have both set to reject third party cookies. I also have my computers set to clear all non essential cookies each time I close my browser.
Between Chrome, and a program I have called roboform, the login will automatically be filled, I just have to click submit.
Fairly recently the site started using a secure login screen, I've often wondered why the site itself is not secure (https).
Seems "much ado about nothing".
Easy to sign in. Not a big deal.
I NEVER keep cookies on my devices and delete them when I exit the browser.
I have two Windows 7 machines and one Android tablet and it is an annoyance to me (I started this thread). I don't have to do much more than input my password on bank and financial institutions and most sites I visit, hence my request.
I autofill the logon info in the browers on both all my devices, and only have to simply click on the login button on the screen.
Couldn't be easier.
This is a user issue, to be dealt with on the users computer(s).
I'm sure Admin can change the website settings to prolong cookies TTL. That doesn't mean it is a good idea though especially when the change affects everyone just because 1 person wants it.
