Tomorrow Never Dies

In the James Bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies", the villain used GPS spoofing to lure a British warship off course and try to start a war.

I'm surprised this hasn't

I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner.

To someone paying even slight attention it should be obvious their map doesn't coincide with the actual roads they're on.

For autonomous vehicles, that's quite a problem. I'm sure in time gps data will be encrypted/secure, but doing so will render all existing gps receivers obsolete unless they can be updated to process the encrypted data.

Not Surprising . . .

. . . to see how much further that spoofing technology has been developed since I first mentioned the University of Texas' initial experiment here back in July 2013.
