poi upload killed my c330

since i've tried to reset the unit and it didn't work i think i'm s.o.l. but thought maybe somebody here might know a trick. i had downloaded several poi's last weekend and found some more i wanted on here. i went through the process, got a screen saying i had successfully added them to the unit, and now it freezes on the screen that has "garmin" in the upper left corner, "streetpilot" in the middle and the name and copyright version in the center on the bottom on the screen. i've tried resetting it several times with no luck. the power button won't even turn it off. i have to turn it off by hitting thr reset button and turn it back on to the same frozen screen with the power button. garmin support shut down at 7pm and i really need this thing to be working asap. thanks in advance for any help.

doesn't sound good

I'm guessing you used the reset button under the face plate.

try this. Make sure you have a full battery or better yet, plugged into 12v source.

1. Hold your finger on the lower right corner of the screen while turning on the power.
2 Keep your finger pressed until the pop-up screen appears.
3 Touch yes to clear all user data.

If this works...you'll just have to load the custom poi's again. You will probably lose your favorites as well. You may have to reset the time and language options too.

another thing to remember, since you mentioned it "died" after loading poi's. Make sure you properly shut down and disconnect your 330 after loading the poi's. There should be an icon on the tool tray, double click to safely remove hardware.

I don't think that you get

I don't think that you get the "safely remove hardware" with the 330 since it isn't reconized as being a mass storage device.

As far as the reset, you can also open it up and disconnect the battery for awhile and see if that helps

the finger thing didn't

the finger thing didn't work. pressed pretty hard but still only get the second blue screen with the copyright 2007 at the bottom. tried putting my finger in a few different places too.

oh well

if neither reset thing worked...sounds like a trip back to garmin, at least a call in the morning.

thanks anyway. i really

thanks anyway. i really don't want to take it apart if i don't have to and don't have any screwdrivers that small with me anyway. i'll try letting the battery run down completely and retry it then. surely it wouldn't cost much to reflash the memory and since i just bought it about 6 weeks ago maybe it will be covered. the bad news for me is having to be without it and using delorme on my laptop again which doesn't have truck routes. fyi, if anybody else ever wondered, the truck routes so far haven't lied to me yet unless i purposefully get off route. if i do it will try to put me down whaich ever road it can to get me back on track whether it's a truck route approved road or an alley way.

best of luck

Let us know what the outcome is.

Tricky to reset

It is tricky to find the correct position for the reset. Your finger must be all the way into the corner. If you still have problems, I would call Garmin's Tech line.
