Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – December 2017

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Test Drive

Test driving around town after some car maintenance (in for a week). It's a real pain when the battery in a car that is heavily dependent on electricity dies. I had to use a special tool to shift the car in neutral (so if could be towed). Couldn't open trunk as it's electrically controlled (I later found out that the emergency trunk release is on the interior part of the car (under a panel). Luckily I had a portable booster to temporary to give me a little juice to open the trunk (and get to that special tool).

Cracker Christmas

Always go to Christmas the first weekend in December for Cracker Christmas. Heading there today.

Delivering Poinsettias for Our Church

Our church sells poinsettias every year. A retired pastor that goes to our church could sell a used car to a used car salesman.

He has sold over 100 to one of the local investment firms that they then give to their clients.

All the proceeds goes to a local charity and this year the church is donating these funds to a local women's shelter.

Just around town....

Took my wife to get her brows micro-bladed.. It's odd looking at her right now - she looks so different! (she's very blond, and you could never see her brows before). We were told they would tone down in a few weeks- I hope so - she looks like Maleficent right now grin

Cellular GPS in the Caribbean

I wasn't using GPS to navigate the cruise ship we were on this week, but I did try to use the GPS mapping on my cell phone to locate our position near Cuba.

I had forgotten that without cell service the not-so-smart phone mapping ability is very very limited. I never did figure out where we were and made a note to bring my old Nuvi along on the next trip!

Recent Road Trip using new 2689LMT

Talk about Timing!!! smile!
Couple weeks ago, a day after receiving a new 2689LMT for my Wife's car...(We intentionally chose that model because we have a 2689LMT in my Escape)...
On receiving the new unit, we logged into GE, registered it and updated with latest OS and Maps...
and then we copied and pasted (With the great help from here), so that New 2689LMT had same Saved Places as did mine.... and finally -- installed same POI's as mine...
Did short test to make sure everything was Good....
And next day we were off on a Road Trip to Orlando, and then New Orleans....
It worked like a champ!!!
Bigger, Brighter screen than 660 (Whose display is getting dim) and 4Square, and Menu compatibility with our other 2689LMT was the reason for the upgrade!!!

We will miss the hacked Voice Files of the 660, though! smile!

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

Saturday Christmas party at

Saturday Christmas party at a friends new place. They had 8 different Christmas stations that they wanted you to complete - if you did you were placed in a draw for a $25 Gift Card. Fun to try and keep people doing something with the large crowd throughout the house.

My wife did the activities with a friend and they are going to split the winnings. smile
