Edsel

Only made for 3 years or so, and cost Ford over a 200+ million dollars in losses. Never a big fan.

but it is still an icon of the "glory years" of the American auto industry when the "big three" ruled. I was a young teen back then but always loved the Edsel. I think it was a little too "rich" for the Ford market ... Ford buyers would go for a Mercury or Lincoln if they wanted a car in that class. I miss those old brands ... DeSoto, Imperial, Plymouth, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, even the AMC Rambler and Ambassador ... remember the AMC Marlin? ... now there was another classic like the Edsel that didn't make it but was way ahead of its time in style and design.

Although I was born the same year as that car I love the cars from that era, they had character, not like the cars of today that all look pretty much the same.

An absolutely magnificent vehicle!.. built at a time where things were made with pride, character and craftmanshiip.. unlike today's Bic lighter transportation.

they seem to all look just about the same with small variations the older cars like the dodge chevy ford had tail fins slick looking hoods hot engines 4 on the floor white wall tires and were fun to drive !

Last night I was thinking about the similarity in appearance of cars these days while waiting to be picked up at LAX by a Lyft driver. From the Lyft app on my phone I knew the make and model of car that would be picking me up, and its license plate, but among the dozens of cars that were constantly approaching me, I could not spot that car until it was right on top of me - due to the basic similarity of appearance.
