Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – July 2017

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Roanoke, VA

Just got back from Roanoke. Had a great time. Drove some of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Went to Mabry Mill. Nice place. The mill is shut down for repair but it was working the last time we were there several years ago. An old settlers cabin and a blacksmith shop are also on the site. A good place to stop and walk around for a couple of hours.

Just enjoying summer.

Just enjoying summer.

Still traveling...

Made it from Northern California, through Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and into Montana. Then we went into the West entrance to Glacier National Park. Camped 2 days. Went out and around (the road was still closed due to snow and they don't allow even little bitty trailers like ours over the Going to the Sun road anyway) and went into the East entrance of the Park. Camped two days. Went to the town of East Glacier (had a great breakfast that I didn't have to cook!) and then went into another campground in the park there. 5 nights camping in Glacier National Park. From there we went into Canada and camped in Banff National Park and then in Jasper National Park. We missed 4th of July at home but were in Jasper for Canada D'Eh! (Yes, I actually saw ads that spelled it that way a few times.) It was the 150th Canadian anniversary. (The First Nations folks weren't thrilled nor were they impressed but it is what it is...)

We are now camped near Fairbanks (actually closer to the town of North Pole, Alaska). The ALCAN Highway ate my front tires when we hit a nasty hole at 50 mph or so. Ouch. Didn't blow the tires but broke the belt in one of them. Spent 6 hours at a Ford dealer today trying to run down a tire of the same type and get a lube, etc. Sigh...

All is better now and we are plotting our Denali visit next. My faithful 760 has been fantastic the entire way. I love that thing. smile
