First running of GE since map update yields interesting issue

I loaded GE today, to see if any update was needed.... None. But...
It tells me my Nuvi 660 has an update.... 2689LMT does not need update, but Nuvi 660 does!!

Last thing I did with GE was Last week: Updated Maps on both 2689LMT and Nuvi 660...

So I click on 660 and find out it thinks I didn't load maps!
Actually, I did: Onto a SD Card.... And it is running on the Nuvi 660 flawlessly....

Seeing that everything is working fine... I'll ignore GE.

GE update notice

@JanJ ... did you have your 660 plugged in at the time you got the notice? If you did, GE should have read your GarminDevice.xml file and determined you already have the map update. I have seen cases where GE doesn't seem to "remember" that you updated the map. But if you have your device plugged in when you start Express, it should correct itself.

Well, This will be an

Well, This will be an interesting Post!!!
If you remember, I did the last Map Update on my 660 to an SD card, which involves re-naming the 3 files after downloading them.....
When I got done, the 660 worked with New Map Update, but GE still said I had a map update to do!!!

So tonight when the 660 returned home, I took out the SD card, and then launched GE (Which Still said there was a map upgrade to do!)
So what the heck.... Do the update!!!

GOOD THING I WAS ON AN SD CARD, NOT THE 660!

It starts downloading the map update again! OK, so I go out and get a drink of water... Come back 3 min later and it's Done!!!
That's not right!!! OK... Exit GE.. Eject SD card... Put back in 660.....

POWER UP 660------- Blows RIGHT PAST Security (Password) Prompt, and to "Map is Older than a Year" screen.... and won't do ANYTHING After That!!!

Power Down 660.. Put SD Card back in Laptop.... Search Garmin Directory.....
Instead of 3 map files I expect:
gmapsupp.gma 3KB
gmapsupp.img 1990016KB
gmapsupp.unl 1KB
I also have:
gmapprom.gma 3KB
gmapprom.img 1990016KB
gmapprom.unl 1KB

those last 3 files dated today (or the combination of the 2 completely different named files--I'm not sure) But the result: Immediately locks up the 660... but GE Is Now Happy, and doesn't indicate any 660 Updates are available!!!

So I made a new folder, and put the 'prom' files there, and deleted them from /Garmin directory...

SD Card back in 660... AND 660 WORKS, indicating New Maps being used!!!

Re-Launched GE, and GE now says there are no map updates available for the 660 (with no SD Card installed-- as before)...

Anything for a laugh!!
