How do I do a hard rest on my 350? with the update for some reason I'm showing part of the old map 2017 on my device, wanting to save space I'd like that removed it?

See

for instructions.
However, you may need to manually delete something.
Yep ...
A master reset doesn't normally remove old maps, or indeed any maps, so you'll need to do that manually. It should be obvious from the dates on the .img files (which are the map files) which is the old map.
Where there's a will ... there's a way ... DriveSmart51LMT-S, DriveSmart50LMT-D, Nuvi 2508LMT-D, 1490LMT, 1310, Montana 650T, Etrex 20
Tips for daman
The nuvi 350 should have two .img files: gmapprom and gmapbmap. The gmapprom should have a new date and be part of your desired 2018.10 map update. The gmapbmap is your unit's Basemap and must be left there. Do you see any other .img files? If there's a gmapsupp file, this could be your "part of the old map" you see. Either move the gmapsupp file off the nuvi or disable it; e.g., rename it gmapsupp.img.disabled, then fire up the nuvi to see if the old map is gone. If this is the problem, deleting the gmapsupp file is recommended.
Check the SD card (in the Garmin folder, but look everywhere to be safe) for .img files. I thought the only .img file allowed on a SD for the nuvi 3xx series was a single gmapsupp file but if you see multiple .img files on the SD card, do as sussamb suggests and move or disable the oldest one, then fire up the nuvi to see what you have.
Due to the 350's storage and its inability to use files over 2GB in size, the only way you could have installed all of North America with a previous map update would have been to install the map update to device and computer, then use MapInstall to place a map file containing the portions of the map that would not fit in the nuvi onto the SD card. A successful map update for the nuvi 350 with all of North America will have a single gmapprom file in the nuvi and a single gmapsupp file on the SD card. You have more than one of at least one of the filenames.
With some/all? devices, previous map update .img files on the SD card (and probably gmapsupp files on the nuvi) will not be removed when doing a new map update and this can leave fragments of an older map which will show up on the 350's MapInfo page.
As others have said, a hard reset won't help this issue and I suggest not doing a hard reset. Instead, connect your nuvi with SD card to your computer and look for the abovementioned .img files.
Good luck.

^^^ this worked! thanks Craig!!
See what I do is I put half of US(Lower 49 states NW on Garmin and the other half of US(Lower 49 NE) on SD that way I have ALL of united states.
The ol 350 needs all the room it can get so I wanted to get that old map off there.
