Hurricane Matthew

Just a note regarding my responses/inputs to the files that I maintain. I have had to evacuate my home in Florida and don't know when I will be able to return. I just hope that our home will not be damaged, but with the power of this storm, that maybe too much to ask.
I will respond as quickly as I can.

good luck

As a survivor of several hurricanes on Long Island, I am glad to see you are not trying to stay at home for the storm. Your life is more important than preserving property. The best of luck that it is not so bad at your location!

We will be thinking of you mahoney and hoping for the best possible outcome for your home. Stay safe my friend.

H. Matthew

Good luck and be safe.

Fingers Crossed

I've got my fingers crossed for you and my other friends down that way. Please do check in when you are able, so we know that you are okay.

Best of luck!

I too am worried , as I'm on contract in Maine..and it's heading for where my home is in Fla..best of luck to you my friend, might have to cut this contract short, as I see the path might bring it right back to Fla after it's done the first time..please stay safe..thoughts are with you and your family..

I hope everything is going to be fine

Evacuations are not fun, but it is nice when you return and everything is standing.
Good luck and a rapid return.

Aside from the many things I hated about New Jersey

Hurricane's were worst of them. Lived on a farm as a kid and still remember the sounds and the trees tree bending almost to the ground. We have our Problems here in Arizona, sometimes high winds, but so far never like I saw as a kid.

Be safe and hope all is good when you get home

Matthew

Good Luck, I am in Naples, Fla. but we are only to get Rain and Wind.

Hurricane Matthew

The main thing is, this is not the time to be bullish. If told to evacuate get the hell out.
I pray for all that live in the affected zones.

Be safe please.

Safe

Stay safe Mahoney. Better to evacuate than take chances with a storm which is substantial & the path a bit iffy.
And that's from a guy who named the storms for the NWS in the early 70's.
Take care.
Fred

Update

O HAPPY HAPPY DAY. Even thought Matthew's eye came within 8 miles of our home, we had only mimimal damage. Our nephew went by and inspected it and sent me pictures. I can't explain why, but it must have been the prayers and kind words by all the members above, that resulted in the lack of damage. Our house has a 2 story screen enclosure and we expected major damage to it and also the house. We lost NO screens and the only apparent damage to the house was a missing attic vent. We did have 2 sections of our fence come down, a 4 inch post sheared off, so we did have some very high winds. Of course lots of debris in the front and back yards, so we will have a lot of cleaning up to do.
We will head back home in the morning, since power has been restored and our water is safe to drink. Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers.

MY aunt and uncle are down

MY aunt and uncle are down at their condo in St Pete's. Luckily didn't have any issue with it for them

Waiting to Hear

I have family in Beaufort. They went to Georgia on Thursday. I haven't heard how their house faired yet.

congratulations to all

who didn't have any major issues as a result of the himacane, if it had a female name it would have been a hurricane but it had a male name so it was a himmicane

I'm glad to hear to you didn't suffer any major damage. As long as the power has been restored it won't be that bad doing a clean up and minor repairs. It could have been worse since other people were not as fortunate.

In September of 1995 I experienced a category four hurricane (Luis) while in Saint Maarten. We couldn’t leave the island for 5 days there was no power or working toilets that depended on pumps to run the sewer system. It took 5 days to get a flight out. It was no fun remaining on that island with the heat that followed the storm. It was an experience I will never forget.

Thank you.

I found out yesterday that the house is ok, although several trees in their yard were down.
