a couple months ago, prior to operation, a slight crack in the suction mount developed, and therefore the mount would not stick.
I used some velcro pieces to mount it, and other than it not being a firm mount, it has stayed on the window, though it doesn't look as nice....
Has anyone seen the mount assembly separately sold?
And if so, could you post a link?
I am trying an ebay one... Will take a month to get here.
Some have ball mount, some a round mount. Hopefully the ball mount I ordered fits the round mount I have.
Will take a month to get here.
How did they ship it?
Did they strap it into the back of a sea tortise n' toss em' into the drink headed towards your destination?
Perhaps it's being sent via pogo-stick?
Is whimper begging for it to arrive before they are required to plant you some unit of measure under the earths crust!
Probably being shipped from China.
If the eBay mount you ordered doesn't work out or if you need one sooner, The GPS Store has a Garmin universal suction cup mount that will fit your unit:
I bought my replacement from Amazon. It was the exact same as the one that came on my Nuvi 750.
For $8.95 you could have this one for a spare and it will be there in a few days. Earlier if you have prime.
I don't know what yours looks like but it said for your unit.
I bought a couple of these for my 2689, it's a somewhat new technology, the cup is super sticky and does not come off the windshield easily. It has a standard 17mm swivel ball that you apply the 2689 mount to. I use one of them in my work truck where I can leave the mount attached to the windshield but take the GPS with me. It truly is amazing stuff and the "sticky" can be renewed by rinsing it in warm water and allowing to air dry.
Considering the Amazon one too....
If you want a suction cup that stays where you put it you won't be disappointed. No moisture needed the stickiness will actually hold the cup in place before locking it down (won't hold any weight until locked though) I bought mine last September and it hasn't fallen off the windshield once.
deleted ... duplicate post
So I've got one of each (Suction & Sticky) on it's way...
Timing is everything....I'm glad I bought both..... Last night 660 came off windshield during a trip in wife's car!
I drive a commercial truck so having my garmin easier to reach and where I want it located on the windshield is important. It can also be easily adjusted. My present one is two years old with no problems sticking to windshield.
Another alternative could be the "BELTRONICS" radar people in Ohio. They sell replacement suction cups for their products.
Now in hindsight I forgot how a Garmin mounts since I use a beanbag. Radar suction cups would be too small. My bad!
Usually mount has to parts: part with suction cup and GPS mount that holds device itself - this one is specific to device. I bought original Garmin replacement for suction part, and all I had to do is to remove mount from suction part and put it on new one. It was mounted on ball and firm push to the side removed it easily. Than you have to push new one on ball mount.
I've received both units....
I really like the sticky one!!!
Other one is also fine, which will become a spare part!!!
Liked the extra length (From window) of the "Sticky" one so much.....
(And Wife got a new car, where the front windshield is further forward) so we purchased a second 'sticky' one....
Thanks for the suggestion!
Would think they can be found on Amazon or ebay. Good luck.
Yes.... And I'm very pleased with the extra length of the "Sticky" mount, getting it further from windshield... which is something that I never took into consideration.... Until wife got the new Focus...
Both are now quite well attached.... Thanks again for the suggestion!
