Rand McNally CSV Format

Rand McNally CSV Format

(Disclaimer: I do not own a Rand McNally and am getting my information from the internet. I am doing so because I took over some POI files that had been "orphaned" and they had both Garmin and Rand McNally files. Bear in mind I am learning as I go, but hope to provide information that will be useful to others)

The proper format for a .csv file to use in a Rand McNally device is as follows:

Col 1. Longitude
Col 2. Latitude
Col 3. Name
Col 4. Phone
Col 5. Address
Col 6. City
Col 7. State
Col 8. Country

This compares to a .csv file in Garmin format - as many files on this site exist - which is laid out as follows:

Col 1. Longitude
Col 2. Latitude
Col 3. Name
Col 4. Comments (where Comments may be any number of pieces of information separated by commas - so long as they are surrounded by quotes)

It appears to me that, if the .csv file has only three columns, it should work in either device.

If there are more than three columns, then it would be straightforward to use EPE to put the data in the right place.
