Garminfone Map Updates

You need to hear from someone that knows for sure but I expect you can still add a numaps lifetime subscription to your nuviphone.

Things to worry about:

-the nuvi 295W is essentially a nuviphone minus the phone. It's listed as a device that won't be offered map updates to SD cards when the device has insufficient space. I expect the nuviphone shares this limitation. This could limit your choice of map (Lower 48 states rather than North America, etc.) or would force you to use the clone technique to install map updates to a SD card.

-if your thought is to add a genuine Garmin numaps subscription, my concern is the cost of the subscription vs. buying a new device. The nuviphone and 295W are definitely old technology with few of the newer devices' features. A new, refurb or used nuvi with lifetime maps will offer so much more and may be similarly priced to adding new maps to your nuvifone.

I have the 295W with Lifetime Maps and just upgraded to the 2017.10 maps. Loaded the entire NA maps. It works great. I keep it as a spare in case my 680 gives up.

Did you use Garmin Express for the 295 update or something else?

I found out that I actually have two of these. One of them updated just fine, but the other one won't. Maybe I will give Garmin a telephone call one of these days.
