3597 Impressions

After wanting it for 2 years now, my wife got me a 3597 for Christmas. I haven't seen some of these things documented here so I just wanted to give some differences in no particular order I have seen so far between the 3760 and 3597:

Visual Map Differences
1) Obviously, the 3597 has 3d buildings and terrain
2) Tunnels actually show on the map
3) The map will display street names of other streets in addition to the ones that connect to the street you are on. Sometimes, the GPS will drop the street type when displaying the name (like instead of showing "State St" it would just display "State").
4) The state highway numbers show as the state's actual state highway emblem and number that you see on the road (a generic sign was used on the 3750).
5) School zone alerts show up in yellow as you approach them.
6) The name of the street you are on is displayed on the bottom in the center.
7) As with other newer models, the following areas are shown a different color than the land around it: hospitals, shopping centers, colleges/universities. I really wish the theme file had different values for these regions, but the map calls the same MISC_AREA value, so they would all have the same color. The 3760 only showed airports/seaports, military bases, and Native American reservations with the MISC_AREA color.
8) For some interchanges on a route, the GPS will switch to the bird's eye junction view to show you how to navigate the interchange (I have yet to encounter the "rolling" real-time interchange). Once you are past the navigation in question, it will revert to the split junction view.
9) The text box the GPS uses for BR and ALT highways has been made smaller (this was annoyingly large on the 3760).
10) The map will show the exit number on the ramps sometimes on the map (like 3b or 5).
If I think of any more I will list them here.

I have a question about the HD Traffic:
The 3760 used to show the green traffic signal if a signal was found. Apparently the HD Traffic received has yet to receive a signal...I haven't been able to access any of those feature (I will test this more when I go to Atlanta later this week). I thought I saw somewhere one time that if HD traffic couldn't be found, then it would revert to standard traffic like the old unit? Also, does the unit display green traffic symbols, or does it only display if it is yellow or red traffic?
Thanks.

More

On a trip to Atlanta, the traffic questions were answered.
The 3597LMTHD does not have a traffic indicator like my old unit.
The traffic works much differently than the 3760:
1) If there is traffic, it will display as many little horizontal lines (yellow or red) on the road itself. The 3760 had a large yellow or red line on the right of the road.
2) If you are on a route, it will pop up alerts of road work and traffic delays and tell you how much time it added to the route.

I also have additional visual differences on the map while driving:
1) The map will display the names of towns (indicated with a green dot)
2) It will also display the names of lakes, rivers, parks, and shopping areas if zoomed in enough.
3) One-way streets show the direction of the one-way if zoomed in enough.
4) Roundabouts take the map theme for the roads connecting to it. On the 3760, it always takes the theme for arterial roads.
5) Some areas show detailed 3d buildings. I didn't think this would be useful, but it is. Sometimes you don't know how far you are away from the building and which block it's actually on due to its size.
6) In other areas, there are blank 3d representations of other buildings.

3d buildings.

I also like the 3D especially in places like DC, however the Nuvicam does not have it and just displays the flat shadow view. I assume that this view needs some firmware in addition to the 3D file.
