Saved Locations

I am unable to save locations to the SAVED folder on my 3590. I select the location, pick SAVE from the menu, enter a name, select DONE, but the location is not there. Only the 3 Garmin locations are listed.

I copied the current.gpx file to my desktop, read it into Extra POI Editor, manually added the address, and exited the program, saving the file.

I reopened the file into Extra POI Editor, and it was there. I copied the file back to the Garmin (folder GPX) and when I powered up the 3590, and only the 3 Garmin addresses are there. If I copy the file back to my desktop and open it in Extra POI Editor, only the Garmin addresses are there.

Any ideas? There appears to be no way to save a location on this particular 3590. My previous 3590 had no issues with saving.

Rename the current.gpx to

Rename the current.gpx to temp.gpx and then put in into the gpx folder for the gps. Reboot gps.

Save Location

I renamed the current.gpx file to temp.gpx, deleted the current.gpx file from the 3590. I rebooted and tried to save a location. The 3 Garmin locations were there but not the one I saved.

I opened the newly created current.gpx file in Extra POI Editor and only the Garmin locations were there.

Very strange....

Note. EPE has the option to transfer back to gps.

Save Locations

I copied the current.gpx file to my desktop, added a location in Extra POI Editor, saved it back to the desktop, renamed it as current1.gpx as in the FAQ, copied that file to the 3590 and the location was there. I then selected a location from my POIs and saved and renamed it, and it is there as well.

No idea why it didn't save, but it works now. Thanks!!!

Taking a stab

Glad you have gotten the problem solved.

I want to take a stab at what happened. It might have been theat your GarminDevice.xml folder was corrupt. If that were the case, then the current.gpx file was not accurately being described as "outputfromunit" so the device was not causing the device to write "current.gpx" upon book.

I had an instance where I had to delete the GarminDevice.xml and then let the device write a new file.
