Order of Categories

When I load the Custom POI file and select Categories in the "Where To?" dialog, the Custom POIs appear 3 screens down. Is there anyway to rearrange the list so that the Custom POIs are first?

Similarly, is it possible to move the Smartphone Link App to the first screen of the Apps page?

I have a 3590.

Thanks

Might Help

I don't know any way to change the factory set order of categories on the "Where To" or "Apps" screens but there is a way to make it easier to access your custom POI files.

Select "Where To" and page down until you see the "Add Shortcut" icon. Select it and search for "Custom POI's". Select that and it will now appear on page 2 of the "Where To" screen.

Not perfect but it saves a bit of screen navigation.

Instructions are on page 7 of the manual:

Further

Further to bdhsfz6's suggestion there maybe one additional step you can take to make getting to your Custom POIs even easier.

I don't have a 3590 but on my 3597, if I press and hold any of the "shortcuts" on the Where To? screen, I can then move the shortcut to any location on that screen. If this works on the 3590 you could move the Custom POI icon to the very first row and even the first item in the first row of the Where To? screen.

Note that before an icon is movable you need to press and hold it for about 3 seconds. On my 3597, when I first press the icon it is highlighted. After about 3 seconds the highlight goes away and if I continue to hold it, it becomes movable.

Will try on my 2555

Good idea. I will try on my NUVI2555 and report back.

The 3590 does not have Custom POIs listed when I try to select a shortcut. Also, it seems that it also does not allow rearranging the Apps... pressing the icon for 3-10 seconds has no effect.

Thanks for the suggestions!

The 3590 should let you add any category as an icon. Do you have all your POI files saved in a single directory? If so, try splitting them into 2 or more sub directories. It is possible the 3590 won't recognize a single directory as an addable category.

This worked for a poster in another forum but I don't remember the GPS model he was using.

It is on my 2555.

Hit "Where To?"
Hit "Categories" on the bottom row.
Hit the DOWN ARROW twice.
It is listed under "Other Categories."

Tried this on my Nuvi 2555 but didn't work. It would be a nice feature.

Essentially the same on my 2555, except I press down arrow 3 times and found under "Other Categories".

Does renegade734 have any custom POIs loaded. If he does, I don't understand why he doesn't see Custom POIs. Either that, or he isn't hitting down arrow.

Categories

We see it on the Where To / Categories screen (3 screens down). I'm trying to get it to the top, since I rarely use any of the built in categories.

A suggestion was made to use the Add Shortcut command. When that is selected, Custom POIs does not appear, so it cannot be added as a shortcut.
