Nuvi 1300 won't load external maps

A few weeks ago, I added a 16g microSD card and loaded the latest maps using map install. Everything worked great up to yesterday when I notice the GPS appears to have only the base map showing. It was obvious the detail map with POI and detailed streets etc.. was not being loaded. The GPS boots properly with no error either with or without the microSD installed. I can see the microSD when connected to the computer and all the files appear to be good. I tried reinstalling the update however I'm told it has the latest update loaded. I reinstalled anyway just to try something different but to no avail.
Wondering if anyone has any ideas? As far as I can see, there must be an internal problem. I don't see any setting that allow me to tell the GPS that extra memory is installed. As mentioned, the GPS boots, loads maps and shows 2015 on the boot screen, it just doesn't load or display the detailed map. Is there a way to select maps from the settings? When I navigate to the info screen "About" it shows nothing under the Detailed Maps even though the microSD is installed.
I've tried a Hard Reset however it replies no detailed maps loaded.?
Any help appreciated.
Go to Tools > Settings >
Go to Tools > Settings > Maps > Map Info. If your detail map is disabled, i.e. does not have a checkmark next to it, tap the square to enable it. If it doesn't show the map at all, back up the data on the MicroSD card and format the card through Windows. Then restore the data.

Card
Note that there is no setting to tell your nuvi that a card is installed. It will automatically read from a card if one is installed and there are the appropriate folders/files.

Thanks for your replies. After several attempts, I've got it. Formatting the card in the unit (windows 7) to Fat 32 and the default allocation (4K) was the answer. I initially formatted to 8k allocation as this is what was selected in the menu. Don't know if that made the difference but I can now see my detailed maps, etc... Thanks for your help again, i wasn't looking for to trying to buy a new GPS on black friday.

@Too Tall, welcome
Welcome to the site.
We usually recommend the following.
There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.
To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.
So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.
Note that the Learn Button will give you access to two valuable reference pages -
the "Index" to all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Glossary of Terms and Links.
Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.
The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.

I would be surprised if that was the issue, only because I tend to set the cluster size to 512 bytes. Of course, I'm probably wrong at this time of day, but regardless, it's good you have everything working.

Well, I've had my two cups of coffee now and am a morning person and I agree that it could be more than the SD card's format options. If the issue comes up again, my suggestion is to try a different SD card, maybe a new Sandisk 8GB one.
