Nüvi 3597 & Trip Planner after a map update & hard reset

 

Several Gurus around here recommend doing a hard reset after having done a map and or firmware update & personally I follow this suggestion.

I have a little over a dozen routes stored in my trip planner and noticed after the 2016.10 update followed by the hard reset that the unit would route me several different ways than what was previously programmed.

I found it odd and decided to delete the route from Trip Planner and then recreate it using the exact same waypoints, shaping points start and ending points and voila it worked and had me routing the exact same way as before doing the update

On to 2016.20 ; After doing the update followed by a hard reset I put the unit in simulation mode and previewed my different routes in Trip Planner and was happy to see that the routing hadn't change at all.
I did notice though that on some routes the Junction View wouldn't show at all and that previously it would show me several views.

I remembered Alandb had mentioned changing the routing preference from fastest to shortest and once the unit had recalculated, in changing it back to fastest and that this had fixed his routing problem that he had encountered in the past.

Well I tried his method and it worked and I was now able to see all my Junction Views on my routes that were preprogrammed in trip planner.

Bottom line is if ever after a map update your routes in Trip Planner are not routing you the same way or if you don't see any Junction Views change the routing preference from fastest to shortest and then back to fastest and that should as it did with me solve your problem.

Glad that old route recalculate method worked for you Canuk. Interestingly, I have not had any saved trip issues on my 3597 for the past two map updates, and therefore I have not had to do a master reset or recalc of saved trips. Go figure!

Thank you, I'll try a Fastest - Shortest - Fastest after I update mine if I see any problems to see if this fixes it short of a hard reset.

Interesting Concept

Interesting concept. I'll have to give the routing preference setting a try next time I have routing problems on my 3490. Usually a hard reset has cleared things up for me. Thanks for the tip.
