Garmin user interface vs TomTom

I enjoy and prefer the build quality, shape, and means to update lifetime maps of my Garmin 2597 vs the older TomTom 540.

However, TomTom's interface provides info on time and distance to arrival, direction, traveled time, etc., in a screen the same size (5") as the Garmin.

While the Garmin can rotate through similar information, it's a manual process vs using existing screen real estate more effectively.

Are you aware of any way to change Garmin's interface to provide more information similar to or better than TomTom?

It is very

It is very easy to get the information you wish to see on the Garmin map screen. The procedures can be found at:

This FAQ is written for the 3597 but also works for the 2597 and most other newer Nuvi models.

I used to have a Navigon

I used to have a Navigon before I bought my Nuvi 2597. I had to move on from the Navigon since they were no longer sending map updates to it. Thanks Garmin. Anyway, I much prefer the way my Navigon had the screen laid out as opposed to how Garmin does it. I can still pretty much get all the info I want on the screen for my 2597, the problem is it takes up so much of the screen. When I have the trip data on the screen, combined with everything else that's already on there, there isn't much map left to look at. My Navigon had the screen set up perfectly, so that you can get all the info you wanted, and they did it so much more efficiently to the point where it barely took up space on the screen. It's too bad you can't customize the size of the text on the screen at least, so that it would take up less space. It is what it is.

Will give it a try, thank
