GE 4.0.8.0 (ugh!)

I've used 4.0.8.0 to update maps and I'm now trying to find the setting that says "device / computer / both", to verify that I should have 2015.30 on disk, too. Earlier versions also allowed me to specify WHERE on the computer to place maps. (I can only find the setting for backup location.)
While writing this, I just thought to check BaseCamp, and I can find the file location for NA 2015.30. However, the nuvi 52 only has "lower 49", and I can't find that on the computer.
I've used GE for several years without a problem, but the new (4.0.8.0) program seems like a step in the wrong direction. A "smaller/simpler" user interface is ok, so long as you can still do everything you need to. I'm getting a bad feeling about this one.

When a nuvi has a map update available, you'll receive the Map Update offering from Garmin Express 4.0.8.0. Tap View Details, then Installation Options, then Computer and Device, then accept or revise the Installation Path.
The nuvi 52 was only sold as a Lower 49 device and map updates will also be Lower 49 only. See version in:

The OP's problem appears to be that the newer versions of Garmin Express will let you re-install a map update BUT does not offer any options as to where that re-install should go. So if he has installed the maps on has GPS and then goes back into GE he will only see a re-install option but no options as to where the re-install should go, like to his computer.
Since the OP is looking to see IF the map update was installed on his computer he could simply look in Basecamp and it should appear as an available map or he could look in c:\programdata\garmin\maps and there should be a file there called City Navigator North America NT 2015.30.gmap. If the file is there Basecamp will see and use it.

Yes, when I look in c:\programdata\garmin\maps, I find a .LNK to the location (actually, on external drive F: in my case) where CNNA 2015.30 is stored. So far, so good. However, there's no mention of "lower 49", either on C: or F: in BaseCamp. I guess I'm not so much concerned about a "computer resident" copy of "lower 49" as I am that the user interface for 4.0.8.0 seems to be "dumbed down".
