Format by accident . . No backup - 3790LMT

Hello
As you can see from the subject, I pulled a bone head move.
I was formatting my camera sd card (or so I thought) and it wiped the Garmin 3790LMT instead.
Before I removed it from the computer I read in one of these forum posts that I should try and use "Express" to see if it can correct things... Well, it did. To a point.

Presently, I have no ability to add voices, languages or change the keyboard to the QWERTY format.

In another post on the internet it spoke of having to recreate certain "folders" but unfortunately, didn't say which ones (and the post was 4 years old)

Does anyone have any idea as to how I can get this back to 100% operational?

Right now I've loaded the new 2015 maps, all my addresses and personal POI's, etc etc

It all works 100% with the exception of the keyboard, ability to change languages, and has no turn by turn voice.

Any assistance is appreciated

I would

Start by doing a factory reset and reload the latest firmware using Webupdater rather than Garmin Express. Before doing anything, BACK UP whatever you've managed to recover!

It should

It should be pretty easy to get the missing pieces back. Good work on getting as far as you have without a backup by the way.

First create 3 folders on the Nuvi. The folders need to be called Keyboards, Voice and Text

You can then use one of 2 Garmin pieces of software to install the missing pieces on to your 3790. These would be either Garmin Express or WebUpdater. Personally I'd use WebUpdater as it has a better track record and is really easy to use. You can download it from:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99...

Install WebUpdater on to your computer, attach your Nuvi to the computer and run WebUpdater. Follow the screens until you get a list of available items that can be installed on the 3790. you should be able to select the voices (insure they have TTS or Speak Street Names associated with them), languages, and keyboard you need and WebUpdater will install them.

Call Garmin

Assuming you are the registered owner of the GPS, I would suggest you call Garmin.

It sounds like you are almost there.

Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.

Call garmin

It is a good idea to call Garmin even if they give you one idea toward solving the problem. This time of year, Garmin tech support will be overloaded with new owners of GPS units. Calls will thin out over several weeks.

Thanks!

I tried your solution and I'm sure it would have worked . . . Had I been using my work computer. Another complexity to the problem is that I originally started doing all these "repairs" on my work computer and it has an encryption programme that renders any removable device useless unless it is decrypted before removal.
Ughhh . . .
I'll post more once I have access to my work computer.

BTW . . . The only folder missing is "Keyboards" the other 2 are there and full of files

Thanks again for your help
