BaseCamp 4.4.6 Has Been Released

Change History

Changes made from version 4.4.4 to 4.4.6:
◦Fixed issue with BaseCamp copying BirdsEye from a SD card each time the card is connected
◦Fixed issue with dragging a find result into the route point list
◦Fixed issue with the Find POI category and subcategory drop downs not properly updating the search
◦Fixed another issue when using the Hand tool and key to insert route points while Trip Planner is open
◦Fixed issue with the displayed route travel times
◦Fixed issue with not properly detecting waypoint merge conflicts when receiving data from the device.
◦Added back the 'Create BirdsEye from selection' menu item when the selection contains BirdsEye
◦Fixed odd selection behavior when using the Hand tool to pan the map
◦Fixed issue with inserting route or track points with the hand tool not always choosing the correct insert location

I Updated

Thanks for the info. I updated and now I have two shortcuts for Basecamp. One is for a 2D only display and the other is for the standard version where I can choose. Is this the same for all or just a Windows 8.1 thing?

Its the same for all apparently since I have the same with Win 7. This was commented on in the previous thread for BaseCamp 4.4.4 (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/43761). There was an entry in the version history of 4.4.4 that covered this change.

"Added the command line option /Disable3D to disable the 3D view in BaseCamp. This was added to prevent startup issues with misbehaving graphics drivers."

The App Store claims it is 4.4.6, but for now you get 4.4.5 on the install.

This may be a stupid question but I do not use Basecamp regularly. Should I expect a problem if I try to use it if I downloaded my maps using MapUpdater to my computer?

I also use MapUpdater to install the map updates to both my Nuvi and to the PC. I have never had a problem with BaseCamp recognizing and using the maps.

BaseCamp should find the maps just fine.

Windows version:

Don't expect you will have a problem, however since BaseCamp is a FREE download from Garmin... visit the Garmin web site and download the latest version for a clean up to date copy... here is link: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435

I have rather use the link above than from the BaseCamp download site, than use the HELP...look for updates within the dropdown menu under HELP...seems to be a cleaner download (for lack of better term).

Reading many Basecamp post in other threads, remember a couple of things about updates to BaseCamp.

Think of BaseCamp updates in two parts.

1, Updated version... this updates the software on your computer. A free download from Garmin.

2. Map update...after the updated version is updated or downloaded from Garmin web page...connect your GPS and visit Garmin map updates...if you have Lifetime maps and if there is an updated MAPS, download free...remember watch for prompt or look for place to add the updated maps to your computer AND your GPS...if you want them in two locations...I prefer to have maps on computer in addition to my GPS, that way your GPS does not need to be connect to work with waypoints, POI and routes.

When using the "HELP...for update" it said an update was available and when I clicked on "download" it said "the file is corrupt" and would not proceed with the download. Then I used the above link and the download went fine. This is on Windows 7 x64.

I have used BaseCamp

I have used BaseCamp a few times in 2015 and my software just today updated to 4.4.6.0.
