POI Loader MSI error

Can't get the 2.73 POI Loader setup file to run. Gives an MSI error:filenotfound during the install. Windows XP. Any ideas?

Check Garmin Communicator

Go to www.garmin.com/communicator to check this browser plugin that allows downloads from Garmin.

2.7.3 has been out for a year and you are the first to mention this issue.

I get the same error .... MSI Error:FileNotFound when installing the Communicator Plugin. Any idea what file these apps are looking for?

Windows Installer

It may be that you have a corrupt or outdated Windows Installer. Google Windows Installer XP for the installer and choose to download it from a genuine Microsoft site.

Or do a Google search for "msi file not found:"for help.

Windows Installer?

What version of Windows Installer do you have on your system? There are posts over on the Garmin software forum that you need to update to Windows Installer 4.5 in order for some of the Garmin software products to install.

You can find the Windows Installer software 4.5 at the Microsoft site here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942288

MSI

If I remember correctly, the MSI file tells the uninstall program what was installed, so it can remove the correct files.

Download the installer

CraigW, alandb, and metricman are all saying the same thing - download the latest version of Windows Installer at Alan's link. If Microsoft support for Windows XP had continued, it would have been automatically installed by Windows Update.
