"As of 12:01 am Saturday, seven speed cameras in the City of College Park that ticketed drivers Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. now operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Four of the cameras are on US Route 1, including two between Fraternity Row and Hartwick Road. The camera near Hartwick Road even has an LED speed display, telling drivers how fast they're going."

I'll check them out tonight and get some coordinates.

Here are the new speed camera locations along US1 in College Park:
-76.932218,38.994420,"Speed 25 - Baltimore Ave (US1) & Quebec St @25","MD College Park"
-76.937639,38.984410,"Speed 25 - Baltimore Ave (US1) & Fraternity Row @25","MD College Park"

The first camera is an Optotrafic camera (similar to the many already in service in PG county) for northbound traffic. There are two additional cameras at Fraternity Row pointing southbound at slightly different angles. These are located in small boxes at the curb. The camera location near Hartwick Road reported by WTOP is NOT a camera, it's just speed display.

-76.941345,39.000777,"Speed 45 - University Blvd (SR193) & Metzerott Rd @45","MD College Park"

I located two Optotrafic cameras located along University Blvd at Metzerott Road. Didn't get a good look, but assume one is for eastbound and one is for westbound.

just remember

that in MD we're talking about a $40 fine with no points. That's pretty much next to nothing, in other words, obviously an attempt to correct behavior, not grab money. The only time I can envision someone getting burned is a 25 mph zone or a school zone. Otherwise, 12 mph over is pretty darn generous.

Q8: If I drive past a speed camera at 2 or 3 mph over the speed limit, will I automatically get a ticket?

A: No. In accordance with Maryland law, images are only captured and used for the purpose of issuing a citation if a vehicle is exceeding the posted work zone speed limit by 12 mph or greater.
