Ditto. Rule #1 in the IT world in business is to not rush out and upgrade. Examine release notes, determine whether the new version provides any value, weigh value versus bugs, test offline, and if planning to upgrade, do so carefully and methodically.

Your Rules

Your rules have always worked for me. Let someone else find out that the update/upgrade is buggy. I waited a year before XP. Never went to Vista (ugly), and did Win7 little less than 3 years ago, and no need for Win8.

I keep Express limited to

I keep Express limited to one machine. I keep the older Updater on the others...(I 99% of the time) use the older Map Updater...and no problems.
